Take a walk down Madison Avenue Whether its a witty quip or an inspiring quote, our signs are exactly like our ministries - for everyone.
More than 8 million people live in New York City, including over 19,000 in our area alone. That’s a lot of eyes up and down Madison Avenue! Our sign is just one of the ways that we get our voice out into the public.
Rest in peace, Dolores Huerta 🕊️

How can we find God in a 3,156 pound pumpkin? Rev. Sparks has the answer.
Congratulations to our very own Troy Gordon for 2️⃣0️⃣ years of dedication in his role as Sexton (Building Manager) for MABC! ⛪
As Rev. Susan Sparks said today during our Worship Service, Troy has been there for every high high and low low throughout the years. We have seen him welcoming faces every Sunday morning, celebrating a beautiful vow renewal with his wife Roslyn, and enjoying our classic Brooklyn Cyclones outings. From major crises like COVID and heavy snowstorms, Troy is constantly working behind the scenes to keep our community running.
Thank you Troy, and congratulations again! 🎉

Chicana legend Selena lives on as the “Queen of Tejano Music”. 🥀
She is remembered for her genuine love and compassion for others as well as being instrumental in getting Spanish speaking music into the pop mainstream. Even Beyonce was influenced by her: “Definitely growing up in Texas, I heard her on the radio and I think listening to her album, even though I didn’t know exactly what she was singing, it helped me in the studio with my pronunciation.” 🎵
To this day, she still has millions of listeners, with over 11 million monthly streams on Spotify alone.

How do we escape the noise in a world full of opinions? We can lead with positive action instead.
Paulo Coelho was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1947. His birthplace is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world - Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) located atop Mount Corcovado in Tijuca National Park. While Brazil is not Hispanic - the country predominantly speaks Portuguese - they are not to be forgotten for Latino Heritage Month, happening this month as well.
Coelho’s words have been translated into 65 languages and sold over 150 million copies worldwide for his famous “The Alchemist” alone. That’s more copies than the entire “The Hunger Games” trilogy!

Frida Kahlo (@fridakahlo) was a Mexican painter born nearly 120 years ago in Coyoacán, Mexico. After surviving polio and a near fatal traffic accident (incidents that left her disabled for life), Kahlo began painting.
Throughout her life, she challenged gender norms, both through her physical style and her paintings. Because of her fearlessness, she is recognized as a pioneer for queer and bisexual visibility.
Her work depicting her chronic pain is celebrated to this day and lauded for its vibrancy and passion. She is considered by many to be one of the most famous and iconic artists in history, especially in the Surrealist movement. But Kahlo pushed back against this descriptor: "They thought I was a Surrealist but I wasn’t,” she said. “I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality."
